Overview of Glebe House...
Glebe House is a 200 year-old former Welsh farmhouse which sleeps up to 10 over two double and two twin bedrooms upstairs, with a sofa bed downstairs. The former dairy and milking parlour have been restored to create a spacious extension, housing a games and shower room and is located a few hundred yards from the sea and about a mile from the beautiful coastal town of Little Haven. Lovingly restored, using traditional methods, but to the highest modern eco-standards, it combines comfort, tradition and practicality.
The ground floor is open plan, with living and dining area with two log burning stoves and underfloor heating, the ground floor is also disabled-friendly.
The fully equipped kitchen is spacious, complete with range cooker, dishwasher, fridge freezer, various appliances, a washing machine and dryer. Downstairs there is a large games room equipped with pool and table tennis tables, a sofa bed, plus a large television and DVD/blue ray player. There are also two large bathrooms, one of which is disabled-friendly bathroom on the ground floor.
With its spacious accommodation and proximity to a wealth of outdoor activities, it is the perfect base for a family holiday or for friends wanting an idyllic break on one of Britain’s most stunning coastlines.
Outside, there is a lawned area and one half of the garden has been turned into a nature reserve which guests are welcome to explore.
The Pembrokeshire Coastal Path which forms part of the footpath running around the entire Welsh coast is a five minute walk away. There are plenty of glorious beaches within a few minutes’ drive and the surrounding network of quiet country lanes make it the ideal base for cycling. There is also good fishing from the beaches and rocky outcrops. For the more adventurous, there are sea kayaks, surfboards and wetsuits available to hire from Broadhaven or you might prefer to hire a horse from Nolton Stables to gallop along the beach near Druidstone.
Just off the coast are the two internationally-famous nature reserves of Skomer and Skockholm. Free from mammalian predators, these boast huge numbers of ground and cliff-nesting sea birds. From April to mid-July puffins are probably the greatest draw, but in August birders are drawn by literally hundreds of thousands of Manx shearwaters which wheel in at night to avoid the area’s numerous black backed gulls and peregrines. It is possible to stay overnight on the islands to witness – or more appropriately listen to – this spectacular phenomenon, but places need to be booked months in advance. Centuries of isolation and protection mean all the wildlife on the islands, from little owls to wild rabbits, is remarkably tame. Three local beaches boast ‘Blue Flag’ status which is awarded to particularly clean and well-managed popular beaches and a little further afield (but still within a half-hour drive) there are a further 14 blue (highest) and green (excellent) beaches between Pembroke and Tenby. And a little to the north is the spectacular Blue Lagoon, a flooded former slate quarry which now regularly hosts the Red Bull World Cliff Diving Championships
Glebe has off-road parking for several vehicles.
Well-behaved pets are welcome. There is a £20 surcharge for each pet.
Each wood burning stove comes supplied with unlimited logs.
